Porto City Council: a new vision of public governance built on data
Porto: a leading city facing new management challenges
Porto is Portugal’s second-largest city, with more than 240,000 inhabitants and intense urban, tourist, and business activity. Committed to administrative modernisation, the municipality sought to advance towards a data-driven governance model capable of integrating dispersed information, eliminating redundancies, and accelerating the response of public services. The goal was clear: align technology, governance, and analytical intelligence to transform how the city is managed and how services are delivered to citizens.
On the path towards a more efficient, integrated, citizen-centred administration, Porto City Council developed, supported by Minsait, the Management & BI Portal. This platform centralises data and more than 600 strategic indicators from municipal services, enabling faster, better-informed decisions aligned with the city’s real needs and those of its residents.
The municipal administration now takes faster decisions based on reliable, centralised data, a decisive step towards smart governance
