Minsait and AWS promote the digitalization of the public administration and companies through cloud technology
- The world's leading cloud technology company and Spain's main technology consulting firm collaborate to accelerate Spain’s digital transformation and cloud-based innovation.
- The agreement offers Spanish companies and public organizations the highest levels of security, privacy, resilience, and enhanced data sovereignty capabilities due to new infrastructure that AWS is building in Spain.
Madrid, September 13, 2022.- Minsait and Amazon Web Services (AWS) signed a strategic collaboration agreement to accelerate migration to the cloud and promote digital innovation in Spanish companies and public organizations with the highest levels of security, privacy and resilience. The agreement contains three main areas of collaboration.
Firstly, Minsait and AWS will offer a joint value proposition to governments at the national, regional and local level, especially focused on migrating to the cloud in education, health care, defence and transport to the cloud. This value proposition will also be available to any Spanish public sector organization and third sector companies.
Secondly, both companies will help to accelerate digital transformation strategies in Spain across the public sector and industry through promoting the benfits of cloud adoption and developing digital skills at joint training events across the country.
Finally, Minsait and AWS will jointly create guidelines with recommendations and use cases for government agencies on the use of cloud technologies for the management and provision of public services. These will highlight security and privacy capabilities to comply with European laws and standards as well as the opportunities that the different technologies offer to improve the efficiency of public services.
Minsait, which is part of the AWS ISV Accelerate and AWS Solution Provider programs, now offers local technical support and provides its AWS customers with its expertise in cybersecurity, external encryption, business consulting, technological support and infrastructure monitoring. Minsait also offers advanced hybrid cloud management models that combine public and private cloud deployments.
This agreement will help public and private organizations in Spain to benefit from the upcoming infrastructure region that AWS is building in Aragón to guarantee the highest levels of security, residency, compliance and data protection. This new region, which represents an additional AWS investment in Spain of €2.5 billion over 10 years, will enable its customers to run workloads and store data securely in Spain while serving end users with even lower latency.
When launched, the AWS Europe (Spain) region will enable companies and organizations with data residency capabilities to securely store their content in Spain with the assurance that they will maintain full control over the location of their data. The local infrastructure will provide even lower latency to end users. The new region also ensures that customers creating GDPR-compliant applications have access to another secure AWS infrastructure region in Europe. AWS is already National Security Scheme (ENS) High Level certified, which means that its infrastructure meets the highest levels of security and compliance for government agencies and public organizations in Spain.
The close collaboration between Minsait and AWS over the last four years has been reflected in the development of important strategic projects for the transition to the cloud with a measurable impact on their
customers' business growth and enhanced citizen services, as well as improvements in the time-to-market and the efficiency of the companies’ processes.
The benefits obtained include cost reductions between 15% and 50% in the operation and maintenance of technological services migrated to the cloud in various Utilities and Telco projects, and improvements of over 50% in the performance of the calculation of quality indices in the energy supply.
Another outstanding success is the significant reduction in the response time of the content suggestion engine for viewers of an Internet TV platform. Thanks to the project developed by Minsait on AWS, the platform is able to offer tips on programs, series and movies in less than 200 milliseconds (thousandths of a second).
Minsait is deploying its telecontrol solutions in its "phygital" area on AWS, which will enable it to reduce initial investment costs by up to 50% and infrastructure upgrade costs by the same percentage.
