The SEAT Case: How to Implement AI and Computer Vision to Prevent Plant Downtime

Real-time monitoring of the electric line, error anticipation, and rapid response

SEAT S.A. has focused its efforts on an Industry 4.0 model by implementing cutting-edge solutions to improve productivity. The company needed to monitor the status of electric tracks in real time automatically, with the goal of detecting and locating potential defects and anticipating errors through preventive maintenance.

Lane control on electric tracks using Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision

In the first phase, an analysis was conducted, with SEAT S.A.’s support, of the types of defects and errors the system needed to identify autonomously, with the aim of properly training the Computer Vision (CV) and AI algorithms to detect them.

Finally, the system was built, comprising hardware and electronics for image capture and processing, the Computer Vision and AI software for analyzing and detecting defects and anomalies, and a fault positioning system using QR codes to locate the detected issues.

Fault detection validation, reduced response time, and increased productivity

With this solution, SEAT S.A. has achieved improved and proactive fault detection and prevention, increasing control and reducing response times. This facilitates maintenance tasks and decreases incidents and production line stoppages.
