DATAfórum Justicia 2023
Data culture, digitisation and humanism
The Justice Forum organised by the Ministry of Justice and, this year as host, the Government of the Principality of Asturias, took place in Gijón on 14, 15 and 16 June.
Minsait once again sponsored the DataFórum Justice meeting which, as in previous editions, was the benchmark forum for the judicial sector in Spain, bringing together institutions, academic and private sector entities, as well as leading professionals from all sectors and fields of knowledge in the world of Justice.
In it, the different administrations presented the different projects and initiatives carried out, as well as their strategy in the field of the digitisation of Justice, which mainly focuses on data orientation, interoperability and the need to incorporate mature technology with special protection for the personal data processed in such a critical area as the Public Justice Service. From the academic sphere and shared by various relevant figures who participated in the event, the need to incorporate an ethical and humanist vision was emphasised, pointing out the existing risks and technical limitations that still persist in this field, especially in everything related to Artificial Intelligence and the repercussions of its application for people.
The Justice Area of Minsait, an Indra company, shared its vision of the process of Digital Transformation of Justice in the areas where the digital company participates, and pointed out the need to have a change management strategy that accompanies people, both public workers and professionals and citizens, in any process that involves a significant change within the profound transformation that is taking place in the Public Justice Service and which also represents a cultural change for the people who make it up.
The need to capitalise, in the form of streamlining, judicial efficiency and increased productivity in the Administration of Justice, on all the effort and investment made in digitisation, thanks to the application of technologies that make it possible to establish an intelligent management of the Electronic Judicial File and increase the automation of tasks and operations, where the intervention of people does not provide a differential value, was also raised. In addition to this, emphasis was placed on the complexity that the digital workspace has reached for some groups such as judges, for whom it is necessary to reduce the dispersion of tools and applications, in addition to not transferring technological complexity in the tools that are made available to them. Specifically for this group, the development of a solution was proposed to help them speed up the process of creating court rulings with the support of Artificial Intelligence and thus be able to devote more time and attention to those areas where their knowledge and cognitive capacities are differential, i.e., to apply the reserve of humanity necessary and essential for the preparation of a court ruling. Minsait is working to make this and other initiatives a reality.
All this and more was discussed at DATAFORUM 2023. Here you can see some of the sessions that took place.
From 1:37:30 the Round Table on "Digitalisation and change management in Justice" led by Minsait.
