Master's Degree in Democracy and Good Governance

Universidad de Salamanca (USAL)

The Master's Degree in Democracy and Good Governance has been taught at the USAL continuously since the 2006-2007 academic year. In 2014 and 2019 it has renewed its accreditation as an official degree.

It provides specialised training on the role of democracy as a precondition for the complementarity between the Rule of Law and Good Governance, as well as on its main manifestations regarding: state organisation, the behaviour of institutions and the main democratic actors, the transformations derived from the articulation of multiple levels of power, the relationship between public policies and the market economy and the justification, limits and scope of the exercise of power.

The Master's degree is designed for those who wish to achieve two objectives. On the one hand, to deepen their own discipline, as it deals with current academic and empirical issues that are generally not covered in previous studies. On the other hand, to acquire multidisciplinary training in the fields of Law, Political Science and Administration and Economics. Although these three areas of knowledge have very different reasoning mechanisms, their interdependence generates a legal, political, social, administrative and economic reality worthy of study.
