Eugenio Artetxe Palomar

Director of Legal Regime, Electoral Services and Processes of the Basque Government

Eugenio holds a degree in Law from the University of Deusto (1988) and was a member of the School of Legal Practice of the Bizkaia Bar Association between 1989 and 1990. He also holds a postgraduate degree in human resources from the University of Deusto, within the International Institute of Business Management (INSIDE).

He is currently Director of Legal Regime, Services and Electoral Processes of the Basque Government. He was in charge of the Legal Department of the Department of the Interior in 2007-2008 and 2009-2012, as well as a lawyer in the Central Legal Services of the Basque Government in 2008-2009. Prior to that, he worked as a lawyer for the Basque Government Department of the Interior from 1990 until 2007.

Eugenio provides legal advice to the Department of Security, manages the functions and services common to the Services Directorates in the Department and processes the matters that are submitted to the Governing Council, and facilitates the free expression of citizens in electoral processes in an efficient and transparent manner.
